UK Gigabit White Premises Map
Type: Choropleth map with ward boundaries
Primary metric: Gigabit White Premises
Layer Metrics
This visualization provides multiple layers to explore gigabit white premises across UK wards:
- White Premises Count: Number of premises with no current or planned gigabit connectivity
- White Premises Percentage: Percentage of premises that are gigabit white
- Total Premises: Total number of premises in each ward
Understanding Gigabit White Premises
Gigabit white premises are locations that:
- Have 'Gigabit White' subsidy control status - no commercial ISPs have current or planned coverage
- Have no current gigabit connectivity
- Have no planned future gigabit connectivity
These areas are considered priority intervention zones as they are unlikely to receive
gigabit-capable service through commercial deployments in the foreseeable future.

Interpretation
- For White Premises Count: Darker colors indicate higher numbers of gigabit white premises
- For White Premises Percentage: Darker colors indicate higher percentages of gigabit white premises
- For Total Premises: Darker colors indicate higher numbers of total premises
- Areas with higher concentrations of gigabit white premises may require prioritized intervention
- Consider both the absolute count and percentage when evaluating intervention needs
- Rural areas may show high percentages but low absolute numbers
- Urban areas may show lower percentages but higher absolute numbers requiring intervention
